While the rest of B-town top-notch dames and hunks have maintained a stoic silence on Shiney Ahuja, who has been in news for allegedly raping his 18-yr-old housemaid, Preity Zinta has come out defending the actor. Keeping up with her gutsy attitude and outspoken ways, the actress has lashed out at gossipmongers making merry over Ahuja’s infamous incident.
Even though the actress is believed to be at loggerheads with Ahuja over professional reasons, she has still come out in his full support. Speaking to a news daily, the dimpled beauty said, "It`s very easy to slam someone when they are down. I think whatever`s happened is really unfortunate. I do have enormous faith in the judiciary and I`m sure they will do justice. The person also has parents and a family. One must think about what`s going on in their hearts and minds.”

As for her reports that she is down and out after her much publicised break-up with the Wadia scion, the actress has snubbed them all as mere fabrications. "I have changed for the better. I`m single now and I would like to respect the relationship I had. I wouldn`t be with someone if I haven`t had an amazing time or for that matter if both of us haven`t had a great time. It`s over now and we both have moved on and I have a lot of respect for that person, so I would not like to dissect anything," she said.

And as for the question whether they’ll continue to jointly own their IPL team, Preity said, “Of course we are still friends".

Ranbir Kapoor is quite a charmer in real life but he certainly isn’t comfortable when it comes to romancing in reel life. Ranbir’s nervousness was apparent to onlookers on the sets of Wake Up Sid when he was shooting a sensuous scene with Kashmera Shah.

He kept messing up the scene and director Ayaan Mukerjee, had to call ‘cut’ several times before the young actor got the right expression. A source said, “The scene was passed after many retakes.”

“Ranbir plays an innocent guy and Kashmera plays a neighbour, who is very attracted to him and wants to seduce him. The scene in which Ranbir got very nervous had Kashmera wearing extremely low-waist pants. We don’t know why Ranbir was feeling awkward. Maybe it was because of Kashmera’s sexy siren image,” said a source from the unit.

While Ranbir remained unavailable for comment, Kashmera said, “I am a confident woman and I generally don’t get nervous. But this time I kept giggling like a schoolgirl. Ranbir is quite sexy in his own way. He has a nice boyish charm. He was uncomfortable but I think he was acting.”

After the draught at movie theaters, respite finally seems in sight. 'New York' has finally hit the theaters. In spite of the excessive hype surrounding its release, the movie surely came across as a winner. Based around the 9/11 attack on World Trade Center, the movie has you hooked from the very first scene itself. The first half of 'New York' is simply amazing and keeps you on the edge, constantly guessing what is going to happen in the very next scene. By the time interval comes, you are looking at a big shocker and eagerly wait for the few minutes of break to be over soon.

Coming down to the second half of the movie, it was a bit disappointing, especially after the big revelation. The pace is quite slow, as compared to the first half, and even some predictability creeps in. Still, it is not without its fair share of engrossing scenes. Especially the torture scenes seem to send a shiver down your spine. The wry humor in the movie is just perfect, neither becoming slapstick, nor getting mislaid. As for the climax, it was not only unpredictable, but a little melodramatic (after all, it is a Bollywood film!). However, it has been executed to perfection.

Talking about performances, there is not even a single actor in the film who disappoints you. Right from the beautiful Katrina to the intense Irrfan, nobody gives a reason to complain. John Abraham, often taunted for his expressionless face, has delivered one of his best performances till date. While Katrina, for the first time, delved into serious stuff and managed to carry her role with élan. On the other hand, Neil proved his mettle one more time and Irrfan, once again, impressed us with his powerful acting, complete with dry humor. In short, this movie surely merits a visit to your nearest theater.
